SUWANEE - The "radishest" veggies in metro Atlanta can be found at the Suwanee Farmers Market, according to Nickelodeon's 2009 Parents' Picks Awards. And, when their children want to swing and slide, parents' favorite spot is PlayTown Suwanee.
From May 5 to July 15, parents all over the country were invited to vote online for their favorite local family-friendly places. Suwanee locales were ranked tops in the two categories - best farmers market and best playground or park - in which they were included. Suwanee prides itself on being family oriented, Mayor Dave Williams said. "The fact that this is the result of parents' votes is very cool," he said. "We know there are so many great farmers markets and playgrounds in metro Atlanta, and for us to be chosen as the top ones is very satisfying." Atlanta runners-up in the farmers market category include Decatur, Peachtree Road and Glenwood Park. The playground category included Brook Run, Best Friend, Swift-Cantrell, Centennial, East Cobb and Piedmont parks.More like this story
