LAWRENCEVILLE - Authorities are searching for a gunman they believe killed four people and wounded another in a possible domestic incident Thursday night.
Just before 9 p.m., police said, they responded to a call of shots fired at 810 Clairidge Lane, where they found three people dead. A woman taken to the hospital also died, said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. A 4-year-old child, reportedly a girl, was in surgery. Her condition was unknown at press time.
Spellman said a female was able to make it out of the house and call 911.
The ages and sexes of the victims, as well as their relation to each other and the shooter, if any, were unclear.
The incident had a "hint" of being domestic in nature, said Spellman, who added that the investigation was still in its infancy.
"At this point, crime scene investigators and homicide detectives still haven't gone in," she said.
Initial investigations did provide police with a possible suspect, Spellman said.
Police are looking for a black man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with "a belly" and possible muscular build. He is bald with no facial hair, Spellman said, and was last seen wearing a white shirt, khaki pants and white shoes.
Spellman said he was driving a black 2002 Dodge Intrepid, Georgia license plate number AZH 7311. The car has a New Orleans Saints sticker on the gas cap.
Anyone with information is urged to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tips could lead to a reward of up to $2,000.
