SUWANEE - City leaders voted Tuesday to set the 2009 millage rate at 5.77 mills, holding the rate the same as the previous seven years. Tuesday night's public hearing was the second of two held on the matter. The first hearing was Aug. 19.
"These are obviously difficult economic times," said Suwanee Mayor Dave Williams. "The city worked diligently, sometimes making tough decisions to put off worthy programs or purchases, to establish a fiscal 2010 budget that would not require a tax increase."
City tax bills will be mailed Oct. 1, with payment due by Dec. 20.
Annandale Village residents honored
Several residents of Annandale Village were honored Tuesday night for their athletic accomplishments in Special Olympics. Annandale Village is a private, nonprofit community for adults with developmental disabilities. The campus is located in Suwanee.
Williams read a proclamation Tuesday that named today "Annandale Village Special Olympics Athletes' Day."
