LAWRENCEVILLE - The Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority announced Tuesday that Lawrenceville and Suwanee received environmental infrastructure loans as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
For Lawrenceville, the city was approved for a loan of $990,000 and a subsidy of $660,000 for the extension and replacement of water mains. The city will pay 3 percent interest on the loan portion, up to a maximum of $990,000, for 20 years. In Suwanee's case, it received a similar loan in the amount of $288,026 with a subsidy of $192,018 for the construction of a new well and the replacement of water lines. Suwanee will pay 3 percent interest on the loan portion, up to a maximum of $288,026, for 15 years. "Investment in our state's water and sewer infrastructure stimulates the economy, promotes the stewardship of our natural resources, and helps to meet Georgia's future water needs," said Gov. Sonny Perdue. "The projects approved today will improve water system efficiency and will ensure clean and safe water."More like this story
