BUFORD - For the first time, Buford City Schools' enrollment has topped 3,000 students, Superintendent Geye Hamby told school board members Monday evening.
The school district's enrollment was 3,059 as of Monday, Hamby said. Buford Academy, which serves students in second through fifth grades, has the highest number of students - 965. "That's about as large as we'll let a school get - around the 1,000 mark," Hamby said during the monthly school board meeting. Construction at Buford Academy, Buford High and the new Central Office is complete, and district officials should be able to move into the administrative building between Sept. 8 and 15, Hamby said. The next school board meeting, scheduled for Sept. 28, will take place in the new facility on Sawnee Avenue.More like this story
