Betty Reddic Winn, 85, of Lilburn, Georgia, entered into rest on Friday evening, August 21, 2009. She was born December 22nd, 1923, in Laurens, SC, daughter of the late Carroll A. and Ethel S. Reddic. Betty became a member of Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church in 1943 (Morningside area of Atlanta), upon her residency in Georgia and her marriage to the late Capt. William A. Winn Jr. (Eastern Airlines), and since had been a lifelong member. Her husband was a direct descendant of the Elisha Starr Winn Family of Lawrenceville, as well as Stonewall Jackson. She was awarded an honorary membership into the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity by Georgia State University, and while serving as District President for many years, donated her time and efforts towards creating charters on numerous college campuses in the Southeast. Betty never ceased to serve others, and among her most recent endeavors, included knitting hundreds of warm caps for the American Cancer Society, the military, and blankets for newborns. Betty was a faithful member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Loretta Bell Circle, and The Bridge Club which has met for over 50 years. She was a loving mother, wife, sister and friend, and those who had the honor of knowing her will never forget her hospitality, kindness, strength and wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her children; Billye Winn Lunsford and her husband Jon Eric Lunsford, Grace Carol McCleod, and Nancy S. Waters; grandchildren Jon Eric Lunsford Jr., Lauren Ashley Lunsford, Betty Morgan Winn, and Natalie Shealy Waters; great-granddaughter, Eden Price; sister and brother- in-law, Anne and John H. Hooper of CA; brother-in-law James Vail of FL; nieces, Mary Anne Vandigriff, Kathy Vail Griffith, Mimi Vail Turchin, Carol Hooper, Lisa Hooper, Carolyn Winn; nephews, Terry Blackburn and wife Patsy, Michael Hooper, Charles J. Winn, James Winn; Great Nephews, Jason Peabody, Rob Blackburn, Jody Dominy, Bobby Vandigriff, Terry Vandigriff; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Service Celebrating the Life of Betty Reddic Winn will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church, 1015 E. Rock Springs Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30306 (404-872-9613) with Rev. Wally Price and Rev. Mary Lou Gilbert officiating. Entombment Arlington Memorial Park, Atlanta, GA with a reception being held at Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church after the Entombment Service. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class are asked to serve as an Honorary Escort and assemble at the church by 12:30 P.M. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
