DULUTH - Residents are invited to be a part of Duluth's second annual leadership academy.
Applications are being accepted for the Learn, Engage, Advance Duluth Academy, which was created last year to give participants the opportunity to learn more about the city government. Through the program, residents can engage in the city's functions and services and meet leaders. "The citizens and business leaders who participate are empowered to create insightful solutions to important community issues and needs," a press release said. "In addition, the program sparks interest in local issues, presents information about important questions facing the city, provides an avenue for residents to help plan the community's future, and gives citizens hands-on experience in city government operations." The program encourages people to become engaged in operations and to participate by serving on various boards and committees. The six-week program begins Sept. 29 and will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday through Nov. 3. Applications, which are due Friday, are available at City Hall or online at www.duluthga.net.
