ZONING CASES - ON THE AGENDA: Here's a look at the actions taken on rezonings and other requests made of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission at its Tuesday meeting.

1. Approved with conditions: Rezone 10 acres from single-family residence district to office and institutional district to allow for the development of a 124,750-square-foot office park. Location is the 3000 block of Hamilton Mill Road. Planning department recommended denial. RZC-09-021

2. Tabled until Oct. 20: Rezone 3.84 acres from neighborhood business district and multi-family residence district to a general business district and grant a special-use permit to allow for a 33,600-square-foot church and commercial/retail center which would have a restaurant, travel agency and barber shop along with a church library and office. Location is the 3000-3100 blocks of Cruse Road and the 800 block of Martin Heights Drive. Planning department recommended denial. RZC-09-016 & SUP-09-024

3. Denied: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for a pawn shop and check-cashing business within an existing retail center in a general-business district. Location is at the 3600 block of Club Drive. Planning department recommended denial. SUP-09-035

4. Approved with conditions: Rezone 19.86 acres from multi-family residence district and general-business district to all general-business district to allow for the development of four buildings totaling 38,888 square feet. Two of the buildings would contain convenience stores with fuel pumps. Location is the 2700 block of Boggs Road and the 1300 block of Old Norcross Road. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. RZC-09-022

5. Denied: Rezone 7.68 acres from a single-family residence district to an office-institutional district to allow for 115,000 square feet of a 128-bed assisted living facility. Location is the 2500 block of Meadow Church Road. Planning department recommended denial. RZC-09-026 & SUP-09-043

6. Approved with conditions: Rezone 11.31 acres from a light industry district to a heavy industry district and grant a special-use permit to allow for a recovered materials processing facility. The property is located at the 3000 block of Jones Mill Road, south of its intersection with Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Planning department recommended denial. RZC-09-029 & SUP-09-044

7. Denied: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow a tattoo parlor to continue operating within an existing retail center in a general business district. Location is at the 7000 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Planning department recommended denial. SUP-09-041

8. Approved with conditions: Applicant requests a special-use permit to continue to allow music lessons as a customary home occupation in a single-family residence district. Location is at the 2000 block of Waters Ferry Drive. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-042
