Prep Roundup: Collins Hill remains unbeaten

SUWANEE - Collins Hill improved to 8-0 on Friday night with a 5-0 shutout over Northside-Columbus in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Kayla Floor (5-0) pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up three hits while striking out seven. Sammy Lenahan led the offense with a double and two RBIs while Mckenzie Halstead was 2-for-3 with an RBI.


Mill Creek 3, West Laurens 0

HOSCHTON - Nikki Sagermann went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Chandler Griffin added a hit and run on Friday as Mill Creek edged West Laurens 3-0 in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Lauren Kaczynski (1-0) pitched seven innings for the Hawks (1-1-1), striking out four while allowing three hits.

Central Gwinnett 3, West Laurens 1

HOSCHTON - Central Gwinnett starter Kailyn Kaiser pitched a complete game on Friday, allowing one walk and one run, as the Black Knights topped West Laurens 3-1 in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at West Jackson Park.

Kandi Duran went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Bri Hampton added a hit and an RBI for Central (4-4). Megan Landress was also 1-for-3 with an RBI and a steal while Allyssa Pane finished 1-for-3 with a run.

North Gwinnett 5, Houston Co. 0

SUWANEE - Tori Freedman had a double and two RBIs on Friday in leading North Gwinnett to a 5-0 win over Houston County in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Lexi Anderson and Cara Blenke each had a double for North (7-2), while Kaitlyn Smith, Cali Shinnin and Heather Maddox each had a single.

Jennifer Gray (4-1) earned the win on the mound with three hits and three strikeouts in five innings. Emily Wood pitched the last two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Grayson 3, Houston Co. 2

SUWANEE - Shelby Smith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run on Friday to help give Grayson a 3-2 win over Houston County in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at North Gwinnett.

Alex King (2-0) delivered a complete game on the mound for the Rams, allowing five hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.

Taylor Denton added a hit and a run for Grayson (3-1) while Rachel McElroy and Kanani Cabrales each went 1-for-2.

Duluth 2, South Effingham 1

HOSCHTON - Duluth evened its season record at 1-1-1 on Friday by holding on to beat South Effingham 2-1 in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at West Jackson Park.

Maggie Kooker (1-1) logged the win in the circle, striking out three in seven innings. Elanna Worthy and Sam Metzler led the offense for Duluth by each going 1-for-3.

Brookwood 9, Warner-Robins 0

HOSCHTON - Jenny Blackwell went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run on Friday as Brookwood cruised to a 9-0 win over Warner-Robins in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at West Jackson Park.

Other offensive stars for Brookwood (6-2) were Susan Norris (1-for-3, two runs, RBI), Mandy Blackwell (1-for-2, three runs) and Jessica Neidigh (hit, two runs). Also adding a hit each were Michelle Ramos, Rachel Rhodes, Brandi Jones and Julia Westbrook.

In the circle, Jones (4-1) logged five strikeouts in securing the win.

Buford tops Oconee Co.and South Forsyth

HOSCHTON - Buford improved to 2-1 on the season with a pair of wins Friday night in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at West Jackson Park.

The Wolves opened the night with a 6-2 win over Oconee County. Alysha Rudnik delivered the big blow at the plate with a three-run homer in the second inning, while Karly Fullem added two doubles and two RBIs. Chelsie Thomas also went 2-for-3 with two runs while Fullem (seven innings, two strikeouts, three walks, six hits, two earned runs) logged the win in the circle.

Lexi Overstreet went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as the Wolves beat South Forsyth 4-3. Also helping at the plate were Thomas (2-for-3, two runs), Rudnik (double, RBI) and Samantha Ramey (hit, RBI). Pitcher Melissa Dickie struck out nine with one walk, four hits and two earned runs for the win.
