Athens woman set on fire
ATHENS - Athens-Clarke County police say a 42-year-old woman was doused with kerosene and set on fire, and was taken to an Augusta hospital. Police said Elisa Davenport suffered burns to her legs, body and face. Officers arrested 49-year-old Phillip Scruggs and charged him with aggravated assault and first-degree arson. Police said Scruggs is the woman's boyfriend. They said the woman was hospitalized and on life support. Search for missing Ga. woman extends into Tennessee BLAIRSVILLE - The FBI joined the search Tuesday for a missing north Georgia woman as the case extended across state lines and into a seventh day. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said 100 law enforcement officials continued to search for Kristi Cornwell, 38, who was abducted Aug. 11. Authorities continued to canvass the neighborhood where she disappeared.More like this story
