BUFORD - Gwinnett residents can now take advantage of "buying the BrandsMart way."
After a soft opening last weekend, the newest location for the discount consumer appliances, electronics and housewares retailer is open for business.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Buford location this weekend, BrandsMart USA has invited a few special guests, including former Atlanta Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone, current pitcher Derek Lowe and a baby Tyrannosaurus rex.
The store will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Friday before opening at 10. Mazzone will be on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. throwing fast balls. Gwinnett residents can throw out a pitch to win tickets to see the World Series and to regular season games.
The baby T-rex is set to arrive at the store at 4 p.m. Friday to greet customers. The dinosaur is part of the arena show "Walking with Dinosaurs" coming to Gwinnett in September and tickets will be up for grabs during the event. BrandsMart will also be giving away digital cameras, TVs, kitchen appliances and even a Smart Car throughout the grand opening events.
Lowe is expected to sign Sharp MLB trading cards for customers Saturday.
To recognize its vendors, BrandsMart has planned a cocktail reception Thursday evening.
Regular store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, and the store is at 2319 Buford Drive in Buford. Visit www.brandsmartusa.com for more information.
