Gas leak stalls Norcross road
NORCROSS - Holcomb Bridge Road in Norcross was off-limits to motorists for 40 minutes Monday while crews repaired a ruptured gas main. The roadway was closed at 11:50 a.m. near Whetherburn Way. No injuries or evacuations were reported, Rutledge said. An emergency crew from Atlanta Gas Light stopped the leak at 12:26 p.m., and all lanes were reopened moments later. Car scorched in Suwanee SUWANEE - Firefighters doused a flaming Pontiac Grand Prix GT on Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of Brogdon Road in Suwanee, authorities said. The cause of the fire is unknown, and one person on scene suffered from minor smoke inhalation, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge. It was unclear if that person was driving the vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene near the Next Level Baseball and Softball Academy at 1:55 p.m. and extinguished the fire about 15 minutes later, Rutledge said. The fire doesn't appear suspicious, Rutledge said. Gas threat evacuates businesses BUFORD - Four Buford businesses were temporarily evacuated Monday morning when workers struck a high-power gas line in the 200 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, authorities said. Fire crews evacuated two buildings about 10:41 a.m. and closed all southbound lanes, Rutledge said. An emergency crew stopped the leak at 11:53 a.m. The roadway was reopened and occupants returned to the businesses by 12:20 p.m., Rutledge said. No injuries were reported.More like this story
