Gwinnett Stadium to host Georgia
The University of Georgia baseball team has planned a game at Gwinnett Stadium, home of the Gwinnett Braves, for the 2011 season. The Bulldogs will host Alabama in that game, which won't count in the SEC standings.
The two schools also announced a neutral site game for the upcoming 2010 season, with Georgia traveling to play in Birmingham's Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Gladiators go to Florida for preseason
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced Friday they will play a pair of preseason games against the Florida Everblades on Oct. 9-10 in Estero, Fla.
Gwinnett lost to the Everblades in the South Division semifinals last year and will play them 14 times in 2009-10.
The Gladiators are 6-1-2 all time in preseason games, but have not faced the Everblades in exhibition play in team history.
Gwinnett opens the regular season on Oct. 17 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Wheeling Nailers.
Donovan tests positive for swine flu
LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has tested positive for swine flu, although the team is optimistic he can play tonight. Donovan will be evaluated by a doctor Friday and today, the Galaxy said.
'Even Landon said it hasn't hit him as hard as the normal flus have hit him,' team spokesman Justin Pearson said.
