Police seek to identify purse snatching suspects

LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police are asking for the public's help identifying a man and woman they believe are responsible for two recent purse snatchings.

On the morning of July 20, officers responded to a robbery call at the Hampton Inn on Sugarloaf Parkway. According to reports, a 47-year-old woman was having breakfast in the lobby when another woman walked by and grabbed her purse. A struggle ensued, ending when the victim fell down and the suspect ran to a waiting green Toyota Corolla being driven by a white man.

A witness gave chase, reports said, but said the car's license plate was covered with a plastic bag. Police were unable to locate the vehicle in the area, but later learned that the man used the victim's credit card at a QuikTrip on Beaver Ruin Road and a CVS pharmacy on Indian Trail Road.

Investigators also believe the couple was involved in a July 19 incident at the LaQuinta Inn near Sandy Springs.

The man is described as a white man between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing between 160 to 170 pounds. He has brown hair and his right arm is completely tattooed. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark hat and a black T-shirt with a British flag on the front.

The woman is described as a white woman between 19 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and between 120 to 130 pounds. She has brown hair with blonde highlights and was last wearing a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt, jeans and white shoes.

Police urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and could receive a reward up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
