Crawfish Boil raises $2,500 for seniors

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Hail Mary Sports Pub in Grayson raised more than $2,500 to benefit Gwinnett County Senior Services' nonprofit partner, Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services.

"We are in the restaurant business, so we wanted to do something to help homebound seniors who might not be able to come in and dine," Hail Mary General Manager Blake Hawkins said. "We could not have made this happen without Master Chef Ray Sessions and some of our vendors. We are honored to help our 'greatest generation.'"

Proceeds from Hail Mary's Crawfish Boil for Charity will support meals service for Gwinnett seniors. This year, Friends contributed more than $33,000 to supplement senior meal costs.

Chamber drive begins Friday

DULUTH - The Gwinnett Chamber's Total Resource Development Campaign will kick off Friday at the Gwinnett Chamber. The campaign, a volunteer-led program which provides leadership and financial resources to advance Gwinnett into the 21st century, hopes to achieve its goal of $625,000.

The racing-themed campaign, Gwinnett Chamber 625, will continue through January, generating new members, program and event sponsorships, selling advertising in Chamber publications and raising awareness of the Gwinnett Chamber throughout the region. Volunteers are responsible for selling memberships and sponsorships and securing budget trades.

The campaign will continue through the fall at Reward Sessions held every other Thursday throughout the county until the victory celebration in January. These sessions will celebrate successes and recognize the top producers. Volunteers who generate $11,000 or more will celebrate their triumph with the grand prize, a trip to the El Conquistador Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
