LILBURN - A Lawrenceville resident died Sunday in a single-car crash on Lilburn-Stone Mountain Road near Briggs Circle, Gwinnett County police said.

Arnulfo Barrera, 35, was driving north on Lilburn-Stone Mountain Road at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, and preliminary investigation indicates he lost control of his Nissan Sentra while traveling around a curve, a news release states.

The Nissan left the roadway and struck an iron fence. Barrera, who was the vehicle's lone occupant, died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash, according to the news release.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports.
