SUGAR HILL - The Georgia Department of Transportation will have a meeting Thursday to discuss the proposed widening of Ga. Highway 20 from Samples Road in Forsyth County to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County.
The project proposes construction of a four-lane, divided highway, including a new bridge over the Chattahoochee River. The open house is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sugar Hill Community Center at 1166 Church St. in Sugar Hill. Georgia DOT engineers will be available to discuss the proposed project, but there will be no formal presentation. Anyone unable to attend the open house may send comments on the project to Glenn Bowman, Georgia DOT, 3993 Aviation Circle, Atlanta, GA 30336. All comments will be considered in the development of the final project design and must be received by Aug. 17. After the open house, project plans will be available at the Georgia DOT District Office at 2505 Athens Highway in Gainesville, the Georgia DOT Area Office at 145 Hurricane Shoals Road in Lawrenceville, the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in the Engineering Department, Sugar Hill City Hall and the Forsyth County Engineering Department in the County Administration Building. The plans will also be available online at www.dot.ga.gov. On the home page, choose "Public Outreach," select the project's county and choose "Go." A list of DOT projects in that county will appear.
