SNELLVILLE - Joon and Carole Anne, two greyhounds retired from their days of racing, greeted shoppers at the ladies' section of Belk Department Store in Snellville on Wednesday afternoon.
The dogs and their owner, Snellville resident Susan Manning, are promoting Belk's Spring Charity Sale at the Scenic Highway location. The event benefits Southeastern Greyhound Adoption. Customers who donate $5 to the nonprofit receive a charity sale ticket good for $5 off a purchase from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday and entry into a drawing for a $1,000 shopping spree. Manning and at least one of her hounds will be selling tickets at the store from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and again Saturday morning during the sale. Manning has adopted four greyhounds, including Joon and Carole Anne, from SEGA, which is raising money to host its annual 5K in October. For more information on Belk's Spring Charity Sale, call the store at 678-344-8484. May is Greyhound Adoption Month.
