Gwinnett Daily Post
NORFOLK, Va. - Gwinnett finally didn't fall behind early, using the momentum to carry the team to its second straight win.
The G-Braves scored four runs in the top of the first, led by a two-run home run by Brooks Conrad and they never relinquished the lead to win 8-2.
Charlie Morton (2-1) picked up the win, pitching five innings, allowing five hits, walking two and striking out two. Conrad's fourth home run was the infielder's only hit, but newly acquired Brian Barton went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Barbaro Canizares finished 3-for-4 with a run to up his batting average to .346.
Diory Hernandez, just off the DL, went 2-for-5 and Gregor Blanco added an RBI to his triple.
Juan Perez, Manny Acosta and Boone Logan pitched in relief.
Gwinnett will face Baltimore Orioles pitcher Rich Hill today. Hill is pitching a rehab assignment. Todd Redmond (0-1, 3.86 ERA) will start for the G-Braves.
