LAWRENCEVILLE - Lightning set a home in the 4700 block of Riverwalk Trail in Lilburn on fire on Thursday night, marking the only significant damage reported by authorities in a wave of storm activity.
Firefighters found flames shooting through the attic of the two-story home after a neighbor called 911 about 9 p.m. "The house was not being lived in at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported," Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom and seeing a bright flash minutes before smoke began issuing from the home, Rutledge said. The fire caused heavy damage to the structure, he said.More like this story
