Prep roundup: Stewart's grand slam leads Stars to another big win

LILBURN - Christin Stewart went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, three runs and five RBIs as Providence shut out St. Francis 15-0 in three innings on Friday.

The win puts the Stars (16-6-1, 9-1) into sole possession of first place in Region 7-A, a half-game up on idle Wesleyan.

Philip Tuttle was 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, while Nick Stidham added his first varsity hit and an RBI for Providence.

Jonathan Leverett got the win after striking out four batters and giving up a hit in three innings.


Shiloh 7, Berkmar 3

SNELLVILLE - Evan Ivie threw a complete game and gave up seven hits and two earned runs, and struck out six to help Shiloh take a 7-3 win over Berkmar on Friday.

Khalid Ash was 2-for-2, while Matt Vollenweider and Deunta Harper each had two hits for Shiloh (10-11).

Peachtree Ridge 7, Collins Hill 2

SUWANEE - Aidan McLaughlin threw a complete game and struck out 12 batters, gave up just two earned runs and four hits as Peachtree Ridge took a 7-2 victory over Collins Hill on Friday.

Nathan Chong went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two doubles, while Jared Walsh went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Mitchell Williford was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Kevin Bowman was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Brett Polachek went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Peachtree Ridge (11-12, 6-9).

James Buckelew pitched four innings and gave up five earned runs and eight hits, while Morgan Ownbey pitched 12/3 innings and struck out five for Collins Hill. Michael Adams was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles (15-8, 10-5).

Dacula 14, Central 2

LAWRENCEVILLE - Tripp Calhoun went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, six RBIs and two singles as Dacula topped Central Gwinnett 14-2 on Friday.

Tyler Jarvis went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Oliver Pratt finished 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Chris Owens went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Dacula.

Zach Breaux went five innings, gave up an earned run, three hits and struck out seven to get the win for the Falcons (9-13, 4-7).

Mill Creek 6, North Forsyth 3

HOSCHTON - Matthew Grimes threw a complete game and gave up three earned runs, seven hits and a walk and struck out seven to earn a win as Mill Creek defeated North Forsyth 6-3 on Friday.

Johnny Knight was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, Greg Brody went 2-for-3 with a double and a homer, while Jarad Curry also had a homer for the Hawks (16-7, 10-5).

Buford 9, Decatur 8

BUFORD - Woody Ceipeila had a pinch-hit home run to tie the game and Josh Rudnik added a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh to help Buford take a 9-8 win over Decatur on Friday.

Rudnik also hit a homer and had two RBIs, while Troy Herterick scored two RBIs and had a double, and Cameron Crawford went 2-for-2 for Buford.

Danny Sachais pitched 11/3 scoreless innings to get the win for the Wolves (9-12, 4-6).

North 6, Norcross 4

SUWANEE - Josh Wright went 2-for-4 with a home run to tie the game in the fifth inning, while Nick Jones hit the winning two-run homer in the sixth as North Gwinnett defeated Norcross 6-4 on Friday.

J.R. Van Wie was 2-for-2 with a two-run double, while Jeremy Burns was 2-for-4 with two hits for North.

Wyatt Brown threw two innings in relief to pick up the win, and Daniel Szathmary pitched the seventh to earn the save for the Bulldogs (13-10, 10-5).

South Forsyth 4, Duluth 2

CUMMING - Duluth fell to South Forsyth 4-2 on Friday.

Chris Rich tossed a complete game and gave up four hits and three earned runs and struck out six for the Wildcats. At the plate, Rich was 2-for-3, while Stephen Robinson was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and John Clark went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Duluth (5-17, 2-13).

Killian Hill 12, Shiloh Hills 0

KENNESAW - Killian Hill Christian clinched first place in GCAA Region 1 after shutting out Shiloh Hills 12-0 on Friday.

Aaron Parks threw give innings and got the win, and gave up a walk and struck out two batters.

Jon Clute was 3-for-4 while Jared Lewis went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kyle Bailey was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jeffery Lanier had a two-run double for Killian Hill (11-1, 10-0).


Union County 1, Wesleyan 0

BLAIRSVILLE - Union County beat Wesleyan 1-0 in the first round of the AA/A state tournament on Friday to end the Wolves' season at 12-5-2.


Centennial 15, Peachtree Ridge 7

ROSWELL - Peachtree Ridge lost its last game of the season 15-7 against Centennial on Friday.

Jennifer Hennelly scored three goals, while Alex Crawford contributed two for Peachtree Ridge. Kristyn Nock and Sarah Bilodeau each added a goal for the Lions (4-8-2).
