LAWRENCEVILLE - Police arrested a Lawrenceville man this week after a female student told middle school officials he'd raped her, authorities said.
Gwinnett police served a warrant Thursday on Victor Mejia-Paz, 40, after he neglected to meet with an investigator, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said. He faces a single count of felony rape for allegedly sexually assaulting the 14-year-old, a family member who attends Richards Middle School, Spellman said. The incident happened Feb. 18, but the girl only recently came forward to school officials, authorities said. Mejia-Paz remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, awaiting a probable cause hearing.More like this story
