SNELLVILLE - Improvements to Snellville's Briscoe Park are under way.
The first phase of improvements was kicked off April 3 with a ground breaking. "We are so excited to get this project under way," said Parks and Recreation Director Cyndee Bonacci. "The Snellville community will be pleased when it is finally completed." The $950,000 construction project, to be completed by Sparks Grizzard Construction, includes the rebuilding and restoration of seawalls at the park's popular fishing lake. Fishing platforms will be added, as well as restrooms and some playground equipment, according to city Construction Manager Billy Buckhalt. As part of a master plan created for the park several years ago, future projects have been identified to renovate and add more soccer and softball fields and relocate the city's public works offices to make room for more park amenities, Buckhalt said. The current project, which is expected to be complete in the fall, is funded by the 2005 Gwinnett County sales tax program.More like this story
