LAWRENCEVILLE - A man was hit by two tractor-trailers and killed on the interstate early Monday.

The 66-year-old man, whose name has been withheld until his family has been notified, was reportedly walking on Interstate 85 South near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. He was struck by a tractor-trailer in the second lane from the right, and then another tractor-trailer in the same lane struck the man as well, said Cpl. Illana Spellman of the Gwinnett County Police.

The pedestrian died on the scene.

Investigators do not know why the man was walking onto the lanes of the interstate. No criminal charges have been issued, as of Monday, Spellman said.
