Prep roundup: Dickie tosses one-hitter in Wolves' win

BUFORD - Melissa Dickie (11-1) pitched a complete game one-hitter, walking one and striking out nine to help Buford (24-2-1) shut out Westminster 5-0 during Senior Night on Thursday.

Alysha Rudnik was 2-for-3 with a run and Chelsie Thomas went 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases. Whitney Holman was 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base and Andrea Hannah went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolves.

SOFTBALL

Parkview 9, Grayson 0

LILBURN - Desirae Thomas pitched five innings and gave up two hits, two walks, and struck out 11 batters as Parkview shut out Grayson 9-0 on Thursday.

At the plate, Thomas was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Sara Coker was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Summer Rose was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Katie Block went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Kelsey Heart went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Parkview (18-7, 5-1).

Collins Hill 5, Peachtree Ridge 4

SUWANEE - Collins Hill was down 4-0 going into the sixth inning and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Peachtree Ridge 5-4 on Senior night on Thursday.

Collins Hill is 5-4 in region and 16-10 overall.

Dacula 7, South Gwinnett 0

DACULA - Allie Miles got the win after pitching four innings, giving up no hits and striking out six batters as Dacula shut down South Gwinnett 7-0 during Senior Night on Thursday.

Sarah Bentley scored two runs and Kelsea Martin was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Shannon Murray was 2-for-4 with a run and Kori Waugh was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Sydney Glasgow was 1-for-3 with two RBI for Dacula.

Alex Payne threw three innings and gave up one hit and struck out six batters as Dacula improved to 19-6 overall and 6-0 in region.

Brookwood 9, Shiloh 5

SNELLVILLE - Alison Glisson struck out 11 batters as Brookwood beat Shiloh 9-5 in eight innings on Thursday.

Shivani Ghodadra was 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base and Julia Westbrook went 1-for-3 with a home run.

Rachel Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, while Jenny Blackwell went 1-for-3. Jessica Neidigh scored two runs for the Broncos (11-15-2).

Mill Creek 7, North Forsyth 1

CUMMING - Lauren Kaczynkski threw a complete-game and gave up no earned runs and five hits as Mill Creek took a 7-1 victory over North Forsyth on Thursday.

Cynthia Parkhurst was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Kaitlin Stringer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hannah Baker finished the night 2-for-4 with a run for Mill Creek (20-4).

Blessed Trinity 8, GAC 4

NORCROSS - Greater Atlanta Christian fell to Blessed Trinity 8-4 on Thursday.

Chaney Means, Sarah Armstrong, Carly Busbee and Kameron Moon each went 1-for-3 and Siera Lawrence scored two runs for GAC (10-13, 3-3).

North Gwinnett 8, Duluth 2

DULUTH - Kaitlyn Smith was 3-for-3 on the night with a single, double and triple as North Gwinnett beat Duluth 8-2 on Thursday.

Kacey Martin and Lexi Anderson each scored a triple, while Cara Blenke, Kristen O'Neill and Kristen Hall each scored a double for North.

Brianna Shallis, Tori Freedman, Heather Maddox and Emily Bean each had a single and Alex McDavid (9-2) got the win on the mound for the Lions (18-7-1).

Norcross 6, South Forsyth 1

CUMMING - Alexandra Foulke pitched a two hitter and struck out six batters as Norcross took a 6-1 victory over South Forsyth on Thursday.

Offensively, Foulke was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Lauren Kinney went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Heidi Shape went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer.

Sarah Moseley went 1-for-3 with an RBI as Norcross improved its record to 12-11 and 6-3 in region.

Eagle's Landing Christian 1, Providence 0

McDONOUGH- Kylie Kleinschmidt struck out 18 batters, but gave up the game winning hit in the ninth as Providence fell 1-0 against Eagle's Landing Christian in nine innings on Thursday.

Providence is 21-7 overall and 5-1 in Region 7-A.

VOLLEYBALL

Buford goes 1-3

DACULA - Buford lost to Dacula 25-22, 25-5, defeated Duluth 25-16, 25-18 and fell to Brookwood 25-23, 21-25, 13-25 on Thursday.

Hannah Tarets had three kills and Lillie Wier had three aces for Buford. Hallye Jerkins contributed nine kills and Elizabeth Darden finished with 13 digs. Morgan Nash had nine assists for the Wolves (14-12).

Norcross finishes 3-for-3

LILBURN - Norcross beat Central Gwinnett 25-14, 25-17, South Gwinnett 25-10, 25-14 and Providence 25-10, 25-21 on Thursday.

Rachel Monteagudo had 43 assists and Tiffany Clarke had 22 kills, five blocks and 10 aces for Norcross.

Briana Jordan contributed 15 kills, 10 digs and six aces, while Macy Clark added 11 digs for the Blue Devils (20-6, 4-0).

Wesleyan sweeps

NORCROSS - Wesleyan beat Peachtree Ridge 25-2, 25-19, Collins Hill 25-10, 25-15 and Grayson 25-14, 25-12 on Thursday at the Gwinnett County Tournament.

Grayson lost to Collins Hill 21-25, 18-25, beat Peachtree Ridge 18-25, 25-18, 25-22 and fell to Wesleyan 14-25, 12-25.

Peachtree Ridge fell to Wesleyan 2-25, 19-25, Grayson 25-18, 18-25, 22-25 and Collins Hill 23-25, 9-25.

Central Gwinnett goes 2-for-3

NORCROSS - Central Gwinnett fell to Norcross 14-25, 17-25 and beat Providence 25-17, 25-18 and defeated South Gwinnett 25-21, 25-20 on Thursday.

Norcross fell to Providence 25-10, 25-2, and lost to Central Gwinnett 25-14, 25-15. Providence fell to Norcross 10-25, 21-25 and fell to Central 17-25, 18-25 but beat South 25-10, 25-16 on Thursday. South Gwinnett lost to Providence 10-25, 16-25 and to Central Gwinnett 21-25, 20-25 on Thursday.

Dacula sweeps

DACULA - Dacula defeated Buford 25-22, 25-5, Brookwood 30-28, 25-23 and Duluth 25-12, 25-19 in the Gwinnett County Tournament on Thursday.

Brookwood defeated Buford 23-25, 25-23, 25-13 and beat Duluth 25-11, 25-11. Buford defeated Duluth 25-16, 25-18.

For Dacula, Roselande Corneille had 44 assists and Sara Beth White had 20 kills. Courtney WIlliams contributed one kill and four aces and Madison Kubal added five aces for the Falcons.

Brookwood finished the day with 71 kills, 63 assists, 45 digs and 32 aces as a team.

Parkview wins three

LILBURN - In the Gwinnett County Tournament, Parkview beat North Gwinnett 25-23, 25-16, Hebron 25-13, 23-25, 25-20 and Meadowcreek 25-23, 25-18.

North Gwinnett beat Meadowcreek 20-25, 25-20, 25-18 and Hebron 25-13, 20-25, 25-19. Hebron edged Meadowcreek 29-27, 25-17 on Thursday.

For Hebron, Courtney Bishop had 14 kills, three aces and two blocks, while Elise Murray had 18 kills and 11 blocks. Jenny Conner had 18 assists and Maddi Roof had 15 assists for Hebron (11-12).

GAC goes 2-1

LILBURN - Greater Atlanta Christian went 2-1 for the day after beating Shiloh 22-25, 25-14, 25-18 and Berkmar 25-5, 25-11, but falling to Mill Creek 25-17, 25-19 at the Gwinnett County Tournament on Thursday.

Amanda Komisarow had 37 kills and 14 aces and Megan Rosburg contributed 15 kills and 15 digs for GAC. Brynn Massey had 45 assists for the Spartans (12-10).

Mill Creek beat Berkmar 25-12, 25-12, and GAC 25-17, 25-19 and Shiloh 25-12, 25-21.

Berkmar defeated Shiloh 25-17, 34-32 and fell to Mill Creek 25-12, 25-12, and GAC 25-5, 25-11.

Shiloh fell to GAC 25-22, 25-14, 25-18, Berkmar 25-17, 34-32 and Mill Creek 25-12, 25-21.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Central wins with 31 points

LAWRENCEVILLE - Central Gwinnett won the cross country tri-meet on Thursday with 31 points. Berkmar came in second with 44 points and Shiloh finished third with 54 points.

Donye Coleman (Shiloh) came in first at 22 minutes, 47 seconds, Amaris Williams (Shiloh) came in second at 23:52, Allison Fernandez (Central) was third at 24:08, and Islam Galgal (Berkmar) finished fourth at 25:02.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Berkmar wins meet

LAWRENCEVILLE - Berkmar won its cross country meet on Thursday with a score of 22 points. Shiloh came in second with 36 points and Central came in third with 74 points.

David Yarbrough (Shiloh) finished first, Jose Valladares (Berkmar) came in second, Angel DeLos Santo (Berkmar) was third and Lanre Ajala (Central) was ninth.
