LAWRENCEVILLE - More high occupancy vehicle lanes on the Interstate 85 and Georgia Highway 316 interchange project should be open today.
"We're moving right along to getting this project completed," said Georgia Department of Transportation Engineer Russell McMurry in a statement. "Just a few more items to finish and we will have it all open to traffic." The Interstate 85 northbound HOV lane will be extended to Sugarloaf Parkway and the Georgia Highway 316 eastbound HOV lane will be opened to its terminus at the Herrington Road overpass. The $147 million interchange project, which began in January 2006, should be completed by the end of the year. The section of HOV lane on Interstate 85 northbound from Sugarloaf Parkway to Old Peachtree Road will open as soon as the work is complete for the new auxiliary lane north of Old Peachtree.More like this story
