May 27, 1962 - September 21, 2008 James Maxwell Jim Day, 46, of Dawsonville died Sunday September 21, 2008 at his residence following a sudden illness. A native of Gwinnett County, he was raised in Forsyth County and moved to Dawson County in 1992. Mr. Day was an accomplished carpenter, woodworker, mechanic, electrician, and along with his wife ran a family business. He was of the Methodist faith and was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Junior Gilleland, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Faye Day, Dawsonville; daughters, Jamie Day, Dawsonville, Crystal Day, Dawsonville, Vanessa Derrett, Dawsonville; mother, Harriet Gilleland, Dawsonville; sisters and brother in law, Samantha and Ted Graves, Dawsonville, Wendy Gilleland, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Chase Wigley, Chloe Wigley, Cayden Day, Connor Derrett and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 25, 2008 at 1 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Frix will officiate. Interment will follow in the Duluth City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday after 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Bearden Funeral Home, Dawsonville, GA 706-265-3159.
