MARIETTA - Kyle Karempelis rushed for 186 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns as Wesleyan cruised past Walker 41-19 in a nonregion game Friday night.
Conor Welton added 120 yards on 7 of 16 passing and one score as the Wolves (2-2) snapped a two-game losing skid.
Karempelis scored his first touchdown of the night on a 9-yard run off left tackle on Wesleyan's first possession.
The Wolves used a quick three-play drive from the Walker 39 after a failed fake punt by the Wolverines. On the first play from scrimmage, Karempelis rushed for 23 yards to highlight the drive.
"Our gameplan was to come out and let our offensive lineman fire off the ball," Wesleyan head coach Franklin Pridgen said. "We have an experienced offensive line and we wanted to come in here and do what we do best, which is running the ball."
Walker (1-3) tied things up on the ensuing possession. After two plays gained eight yards, quarterback Brian McPherson took the shotgun snap. Aided by a crushing block from receiver Blake Madani, McPherson rolled 73-yards for the TD.
It was all Wesleyan the rest of the half, as the Wolves got another TD from Karempelis, this time from five yards out to cap an 11-play, 72-yard drive that took 6:29 off the clock. Later in the second quarter, a 70-yard Wesleyan drive culminated in a 20-yard TD strike from Welton to Lee Ellis for a 21-6 halftime lead.
Karempelis added his final score of the evening as the Wolves took over on the Walker 46 early in the third quarter.
Five plays later, Karempelis scored untouched on a run up the middle from the 9-yard line. Karempelis carried the ball every play, including bruising runs of 11 and 15 yards on the first two plays of the drive.
Early in the fourth quarter, backup quarterback Drew Fithian hit Ellis for his second receiving TD of the game from 22 yards out. Fithian was 2 of 2 on the drive for 33 yards.
Zander Yost picked up the final tally of the night for Wesleyan as he scored from the five-yard line. Yost had a 29-yard run to set up a first and goal situation at the 1. After a loss of 4, Yost scored on the aforementioned run.
