SUWANEE - A Sunday afternoon fire caused heavy damage to a Suwanee home in the 600 block of Welford Road, an official said.
A resident called the Gwinnett County Fire Department at 3:54 p.m. after spotting smoke and flames in the two-story home's attic, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. Firefighters had the blaze under control roughly a half-hour later.
A family living at the home was displaced due to damage, but they had declined Red Cross assistance late Sunday, Rutledge said.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, but investigations don't believe it was suspicious, Rutledge said.
No injuries were reported.
