LAWRENCEVILLE - A Norcross man was indicted recently on charges he strangled his girlfriend with a cord during an outburst in June.
Police said Andres Luis Rodriguez-Nova was under the impression his lover, Elba Mejia-Mesa, 44, was cheating on him, which allegedly led him to strangle her during a spat at a Norcross area apartment June 22. A Gwinnett grand jury indicted Rodriguez-Nova, 39, on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and false imprisonment, according to a bill released this week. Rodriguez-Nova allegedly called 911 from a DeKalb County home on June 22 to tell police where the woman's body could be found and to claim responsibility for her murder. Police found the victim dead at the Lake Colony Apartments and later arrested her boyfriend. Police said Rodriguez-Nova confessed to the killing during interrogations. Rodriguez remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. His arraignment is expected within a month.More like this story
