A selection of local eateries recently featured in the Gwinnett Daily Post:

· The Roostery

The signature item at The Roostery is the Broaster chicken, which is marinated for 24 hours before being cooked in a pressure fryer, which seals in the flavor and juices. Rotisserie chicken is also on the menu along with tenders and wings, shrimp and popcorn chicken. For dessert, The Roostery offers fried cheesecake bites and an assortment of cookies.

· Hometown Barbeque

Hometown Barbeque is a place where you might want to sit and stay awhile. The building looks like a home and the interior is filled with wooden, homey kitchen-style tables, and the front porch seating is perfect for a cool, sunny day. All meats served at Hometown Barbeque are cooked on site with hickory wood. The restaurant serves barbeque staples - pulled pork, chicken, ribs and Brunswick stew - and during the winters, a beef vegetable soup is added to the menu. Co-owners George Richbourg and Martha Kelly said they try to add something new to the offerings about every six months, and the Southern style potato salad is the latest addition.

· Eagles Landing Cafe and Grill

From jambalaya and gumbo to crab cakes and Cajun-style fish, Eagles Landing offers a variety of foods with New Orleans and Cajun influences, the most popular of which is the Cajun-style tilapia with a crabmeat alfredo topping. Eagles Landing also offers poboys, flat wraps and sandwiches, including a muffuletta, a traditional New Orleans Italian sub with olive salad, ham, salami, mortadella and provolone - and everything is made from scratch. The restaurant also has a second location at 5394 Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn. Previously used as a bank building, diners can enjoy their meals in the bank vault, which seats up to eight people.

· Bullfrogs Bar & Grill

Despite its swamp-creature namesake, Bullfrogs is not your typical themed resort restaurant. Located next to the pool in the uber-posh, rustic confines of the Legacy Lodge and Conference Center - formerly known as the Emerald Pointe Hotel - Bullfrogs is a comfortable, casual place to grab a bite to eat or have a few drinks at the bar after a long day of relaxing. Bullfrogs prides itself on fresh, large portions of mainstream American cuisine and desserts. The Lily Pad Combo Platter is a great way to start out a meal with several friends. It includes heaps of onion rings, cheese bites, spicy wings, Asian wings and chicken fingers. For a light lunch or dinner, order the Black and Bleau Salad, which features a sizable Caesar salad with blue cheese crumbles and thick cuts of sirloin.
