Prep roundup: Connelly no-hits Chattahoochee in Peachtree Ridge win

SUWANEE - Krysten Connelly (10-3) of Peachtree Ridge struck out nine in seven innings on Tuesday with no hits allowed in leading the Lions to an 8-0 shutout over Chattahoochee.

Callie Fernandez helped at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs while Chandler Frisbie added a hit with two RBIs.

Gabby Bedard added two hits and three runs while Sade Johnson finished 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for the Lions (13-3, 3-1).

SOFTBALL

Dacula 2, Parkview 0

DACULA - Dacula pitcher Allie Miles (4-0) surrendered just two hits with eight strikeouts on Tuesday as the Falcons blanked Parkview 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Charlotte Sieber went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Dacula (8-4, 2-0) while Jenny Willis was 1-for-2 with a run.

South Gwinnett 5, Central Gwinnett 1

SNELLVILLE - South Gwinnett improved its Region 8-AAAAA record to 2-1 with a 5-1 win over Central Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Jordan Suther led the way for South (4-12-1 overall) by going 2-for-4 with two runs. Beth Rawson also had two hits with an RBI while Heather Smith finished 2-for-3 with a run.

The winning pitcher was Rachel Ludick (3-7) with three walks and five strikeouts.

Lovett 5, GAC 4

ATLANTA - Lovett scored five runs in the bottom of the first and held on to beat Greater Atlanta Christian 5-4 in Region 6-AA on Tuesday.

Carly Busbee led GAC (7-6, 1-1) by going 2-for-3 while Chaney Means added two hits and a run. Cameron Moon also had a hit and two RBIs while Christine Young went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Providence 16, Mt. Pisgah 1

LILBURN - Hayden Clark had a single, triple and four RBIs on Tuesday in leading Providence to a 16-1 crushing of Mount Pisgah in three innings.

Caitlin McDowell added a triple and three RBIs for the Stars (17-5, 2-0) while Rachel Reiswig finished with an RBI and two runs. Winning pitcher was Brianna Canady, who improved to 6-1.

Hebron 6, Social Circle 2

DACULA - Mindy Montgomery went 2-for-2 with two runs on Tuesday in propelling Hebron to a 6-2 win over Social Circle in Region 8-A.

Natalie Dixon also had a hit with two RBIs as the Lions improved to 6-9 overall and 2-0 in region. Victoria Sink picked up the win, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts.

VOLLEYBALL

Norcross tops North, Collins Hill

SUWANEE - Norcross won a pair of matches on the road on Tuesday by beating Collins Hill 25-8, 25-16 and outlasting host North Gwinnett 28-26, 30-28.

Norcross (10-3, 2-0) was led by 34 assists from Rachel Monteagudo and 13 kills and eight digs by Briana Jordan. Angelica Wilcox added 10 digs and four aces while Tiffany Clarke finished with 31/2 blocks.

North (10-6, 1-1) earned a split on the night by beating the Eagles 25-15, 25-22. Leading the way for North were Michelle Demaris (19 digs, six aces), Megan Carnell (18 assists, 13 kills) and Danielle Sphire (10 kills, five aces).

Mill Creek wins two

ATHENS - Ashley Jackson had 35 assists and four aces on Tuesday in helping Mill Creek sweep both Cedar Shoals (25-21, 25-11) and Habersham Central (25-21, 25-21).

Lauren Rhodes led the attack with 15 kills while Lindsay Davis added 14. Alyson White led the defense for the Hawks (12-7).

Dacula beats Buford, Lakeview

BUFORD - Dacula improved to 8-3 on Tuesday with wins over Buford 25-11, 25-16 and Lakeview Academy 25-18, 25-11.

Sara Beth White had 14 kills for the Falcons while Mary Kate White added 13 kills. Courtney Williams also played well with a dozen kills while Courtney Weider had 14 digs and Roselande Corneille led the team in assists with 38.

Parkview edges Brookwood

LILBURN - Parkview beat Brookwood in a best-of-three match on Tuesday night, winning 25-15, 21-25, 25-17.

Audrey Hipple led the Panthers (5-9) with 10 aces and 13 kills while Jordan Flanagan had 16 digs and Lauren Coleman finished with 10 kills. Parkview's night ended with a split as the Panthers lost to Oconee County 25-22, 25-23.

Brookwood (8-8) fell in its finale to Oconee County in a tight match 25-20, 25-22. Leading the Broncos were Abby Case with 33 assists, Kelsey Gratton with 12 kills and Kelsey Williams with four kills, one dig and one ace.

Wesleyan wins two at home

NORCROSS - Anne Marie Armstrong finished with 19 kills, 12 digs and nine aces on Tuesday as Wesleyan defeated Mount Pisgah 25-8, 25-14 and Holy Innocents' 25-17, 23-25, 25-7.

Maggie Smith paced the offense for the Wolves (18-5, 4-0) with 37 assists. Grace Leah Baughn added eight kills and seven aces while Anna Keappler finished with eight kills and three aces.

GAC defeats Central

NORCROSS - Brynn Massey dished out 29 assists on Tuesday as Greater Atlanta Christian beat Central Gwinnett in a best-of-five match, 25-17, 18-25, 25-14, 25-21.

Katie Stephens had 13 digs for GAC (5-8) while Amanda Komisarow had 17 kills and Megan Rosburg and Catherine Chason each finished with eight kills and five aces.

Central (4-12) was led by Lindsey NeSmith (10 assists, five kills, four digs), Rachel Johnson (11 digs, seven kills) and Nia Hardy (five blocks).

Hebron reaches .500 mark

ATHENS - Hebron evened its record at 8-8 on Tuesday with two wins on the road, defeating Madison County 25-9, 25-9 and Athens Christian 25-16, 25-20.

The leading players for Hebron were Sarah Hedrick (nine kills, seven aces), Courtney Bishop (eight kills, four aces), Elise Murray (16 kills, two blocks), Jenny Conner (13 assists) and Maddi Roof (10 assists).
