The fair and festival season opens this week, and here's a look at upcoming city and county events in and around Gwinnett.

Gwinnett County Fair

The annual Gwinnett County Fair opens Thursday and runs through Sept. 21 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville.

The fair exhibit hall is open from 4 to 10 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 9 p.m. Sundays. The carnival is open from 4 to 11 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 1 to 10 p.m. Sundays.

Admission to the fair is $5 for adults, $2 for people 65 and older and for children 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 6. Parking is free.

Suwanee Day 2008

Suwanee Day 2008 will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 at Suwanee Town Center Park, 73 Ga. Highway 23, Suwanee. Off-site parking and free shuttle transportation will be available from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Suwanee Day 2008 will be held rain or shine. Duluth Fall Festival

The Duluth Fall Festival, in its 26th year, will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 on the Duluth Town Green, 3142 Hill St., Duluth.

A free shuttle will operate from three locations from 8 to 10 a.m. and noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Norcross Art Fest

The city of Norcross will hold its fifth annual juried art event - Norcross Art Fest - from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5. Free parking is available at lots on Holcomb Bridge Road at the corner of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, and free shuttles will run regularly between the downtown area and those lots. Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival

The 35th annual Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival will be held from

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11 at Lilburn City Park, 76 Main St. in Lilburn.

Admission, parking and shuttle service for Lilburn Daze are free, with a shuttle running from Market Place Shopping Center at the corner of U.S.

Highway 29 and Indian Trail-Lilburn Road and Lilburn First Baptist on Main Street.

Sugar Hill Fall Festival

In its eighth year, the Sugar Hill Fall Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to

5 p.m. Oct. 25 at E.E. Robinson Park, 850 Level Creek Road in Sugar Hill, rain or shine.

Event parking and shuttle service will be provided.

Hoschton Fall Festival

The annual Hoschton Fall Festival will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 27 with booths set up in the City Square, Depot Park, Towne Center Shopping Center and West Jackson Mini-Shops in downtown Hoschton.

Flowery Branch Fall Festival

The 2008 Flowery Branch Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 behind the depot in Flowery Branch. The event will be held rain or shine.
