NORCROSS - Police are searching for the driver of a white van that reportedly struck a 16-year-old girl Saturday night and fled.
The girl, who was not identified, was attempting to cross Singleton Road near Harbins Road in Norcross when the westbound van hit her about 10:30 p.m., police said. The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. She's expected to recover. Cpl. David Schiralli, Gwinnett police spokesman, said the girl was not using a crosswalk and that the site of the collision was "poorly lit." The white van never stopped, he said. Investigators have interviewed potential witnesses and are "actively following up on leads in locating the vehicle and its driver," Schiralli said. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 770-338-7430, ext. 5672.More like this story
