The minor-league Gwinnett Braves announced their inaugural 2009 baseball schedule on Monday.
The Class AAA franchise will be playing its first in Gwinnett County after playing 43 seasons in Richmond, Va. The Braves begin the season April 9 with an eight-game road trip in North Carolina where they face division rivals Charlotte and Durham. The first game at the new state-of-the-art ballpark in Gwinnett County will be on April 17 against the Norfolk Tides. The weekend series kicks off a homestand that runs through April 26 and features three games against Durham and four against Charlotte. Following the homestand, the Gwinnett Braves play a two-game series in Norfolk before heading north to play four against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Gwinnett is scheduled to play 144 regular-season contests in 152 days between April 9 and September 7. The three-day All-Star Break will take place July 13-15. The 2009 mid-season classic will be played at PGE Park in downtown Portland, Oregon. Game times and promotions will be announced at a later date.
