LAWRENCEVILLE - Police released a sketch Wednesday of a person of interest in the attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl from Collins Hill Park last month.
The girl's father, Robert Davis, told the Post his daughter was walking a hilly portion of the park on Aug. 18 when a man stepped out from some nearby woods and grabbed her forearm. She started screaming, and her younger sister, walking nearby, ran to her aide. The disturbance alerted nearby adults at a recreational league softball game. The man pushed the girl to the ground and disappeared, Davis said.
The man is described as a tall, dark-skinned Caucasian or Hispanic man weighing 200 pounds with black hair and a tattoo on his upper right arm, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said.
Police said the person of interest is not a suspect.
"Investigators are currently looking into leads at this time," he said.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5300.
