Mill Creek student to perform benefit

DACULA - A Mill Creek High School student will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries at 3465 Braselton Highway in Dacula.

Paige Williams, 16, will be singing and playing the guitar at the Hamilton Mill establishment. Fifteen percent of sales generated during her performance will be donated to Mill Creek's chorus.

Buford resident wins $5 million

BUFORD - Lorie Scarbrough received an early birthday gift this year worth millions.

The Buford resident, who turned 54 on Aug. 30, won a $5 million top prize playing the Georgia Lottery's 15th Anniversary Millionaire Extravaganza.

Scarbrough purchased her winning ticket at Shell Quick Mart at 4785 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville and scratched it off in her car.

She said she plans to purchase a new sport utility vehicle, pay bills and donate to charity. The grandmother of five also won $10,000 last year from an instant game.

Buford retiree wins Fantasy 5

BUFORD - Charles Croy, a Buford resident and retired groundskeeper, matched all five winning numbers in the Aug. 13 Fantasy 5 drawing and won a $176,162 top prize.

Croy, 70, purchased his ticket at Exxon Food Mart at 924 Gainesville Highway in Buford. The winning numbers were 3-19-32-37-39.

Croy, who retired from Gainesville State College in February, and his wife, Patricia, will use the winnings to "help the nest egg," he said.

The Exxon Food Mart where the winning ticket was sold will receive a $6,000 retailer incentive bonus.
