W.C. Britt named one of healthiest schools in US

SNELLVILLE - Snellville based-W.C. Britt Elementary has been named one of the healthiest public schools in America, according to Health magazine.

W.C. Britt - tied for the eighth spot among public schools across the country - was recognized for health initiatives which include taste-tests, farm visits, school gardening, community-health-related plays, and annual visits from local dentists.

Health's list of the 10 healthiest public schools appears in its current September issue. Additionally, Health.com offers an expanded list that names the healthiest school in each state.

Freshstart program begins Sept. 16

SNELLVILLE - Freshstart, the American Cancer Society's smoking cessation program, will begin Sept. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hope House, located at Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville. The program will continue at the same time and place Sept. 18, 23 and 25. Cannon United Methodist Church is located at 2424 Web Gin House Road.

Freshstart consists of four one-hour sessions designed to help individuals stop smoking in two weeks.
