LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man wanted on charges of vehicular homicide turned himself in to police this week.
Joseph Kwak Asare is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, a misdemeanor, stemming from a February traffic accident that led to the death of Rebecca Gongar.
Asare caused the accident at the intersection of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and Greenvale Drive on Feb. 7, police said. Gongar, who drove the other car involved, died of her injuries May 3.
Asare turned himself in Wednesday after an investigator informed the suspect's attorney he was being charged, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli.
Police don't believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident, Schiralli said.
Asare posted $3,500 bond and was released from the Gwinnett County Jail hours after his booking.
