Vacant home burns in Duluth
DULUTH - Gwinnett fire investigators are trying to determine what sent a two-story, vacant home in Duluth up in flames early Sunday morning. Firefighters found the 3174 Dover Court home fully ablaze when they arrived about 12:15 a.m. after neighbors reported the fire. "No one lived in the house at the time of the fire, and there was no power or gas service to the structure," said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge. The structure is considered a total loss, Rutledge said. No injuries were reported. Fire forces building evacuation DULUTH - Unattended food left burning on a stove spurred an evacuation at a Duluth apartment building Sunday evening. Firefighters responded to the smoky unit at the Idlewylde apartment complex on Boggs Road about 8 p.m. The fire was out when they arrived, Rutledge said. The fire damaged the stove and kitchen and sent thick smoke throughout the apartment. Crews found no further damage past the kitchen, Rutledge said. "The fire appears accidental," he said.
