LAWRENCEVILLE - Crews opened the first new four-lane stretch of Ga. Highway 20 Thursday.
The widened road is complete from Plantation Boulevard to Rosebud Road, although crews will continue to work on the project to continue to Ozora/Cooper Road. The contractor missed the original project deadline of Aug. 31 because of "extensive utility relocations" on the $26.8 million, 4.1-mile widening project, transportation officials said. Officials hope to complete the entire project - the first of three widenings to Ga. 20 to make it four lanes throughout Gwinnett - by the end of the year.More like this story
