Buford's Danley commits to Valdosta St.
Buford senior Jocelyn Danley has accepted a basketball scholarship offer from Valdosta State. Danley, who considered 10 Division I and II schools, averaged 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds as a junior for the Wolves.
GFL's Richards named to USA Football national committee
Duluth resident Erik Richards, president of the Gwinnett Football League, has been selected to the USA Football Administrators Advisory Committee, a national eight-person committee for the youth football's national governing body.
The committee evaluates and strengthens USA Football resources that are made available to youth football league administrators like online education courses, league volunteer background checks, coaching insurance and football equipment grants.
Richards has been an instrumental figure the GFL, the large youth feeder system for football and cheerleading. The local league serves more than 6,000 football players and more than 3,500 cheerleaders.
Stoesz sent to Gladiators
The Atlanta Thrashers assigned left wing Myles Stoesz from the Chicago Wolves to the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old forward has not appeared in any games with Chicago this season. Last year, Stoesz led the ECHL with 291 penalty minutes in 64 regular-season games with the Gladiators during his first year as a professional.
Atlanta's seventh choice, 207th overall, in the 2005 NHL entry draft, he also tallied four goals and six points with Gwinnett.
