LAWRENCEVILLE - The first Rock 'n Rib Fest in historic downtown Lawrenceville on Saturday will feature live music, barbecue ribs and the unveiling of the Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzly.
Students selected the Grizzly as the college's official mascot last spring during a campuswide vote. Georgia Gwinnett College will reveal the look of its mascot at 4 p.m. Saturday. "From a symbolic, even historical standpoint, the Grizzly represents the melding of primal strength with reverent wisdom," Georgia Gwinnett College President Daniel J. Kaufman said. "Our mascot embodies that great animal - that gentle giant - and it will represent Georgia Gwinnett's ultimate goal to make strong leaders out of its dedicated students." The Rock 'n Rib Fest will begin at 1 p.m. on the Lawrenceville square. The event will conclude at dark with a pyrotechnics finale.More like this story
