ATLANTA - Attorneys for courthouse gunman Brian Nichols planned to call their first witness after Fulton County prosecutors concluded their case with photos of the four victims.
Prosecutors introduced 76 witnesses over 17 days to try to prove that Nichols killed a judge, a court reporter, a deputy and a federal agent after escaping from a holding cell at the Fulton County courthouse on March 11, 2005. Nichols has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Nichols' attorneys sought the testimony of his girlfriend, who dated Nichols for seven years before ending the relationship in 1994. Nichols has blamed her for his rage when she started dating a church pastor.More like this story
