LAWRENCEVILLE - Military service men and women will be honored at a Buford event Saturday.
Buford's Salute to Freedom is in its second year and will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at John Bailey GMC at Ga. Highway 20 in Buford. The four branches of the U.S. military will be represented at the event, and various politicians are expected to attend. "We're anticipating a pretty large crowd," said event coordinator Barbara Swenson, who is also the founder of Troop Bebop USA, the nonprofit organization the event benefits. Troop Bebop USA provides telephone services and supplies to troops deployed overseas. "Whatever they need, I get it for them," Swenson said. "It's so critical to their morale. That's what I do, I boost morale." Saturday's event will feature live music, military demonstrations and children's activities. A U.S. Honor Ride, a tribute to fallen and wounded soldiers, will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday starting at Biker Brands in Buford. The ride will be led by Chip Oehring, Patriot Guard Rider road captain. For more information on Salute to Freedom, call Swenson at 770-823-9077.More like this story
