HOOVER, Ala. - The Collins Hill girls cross country team won the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday, beating nationally ranked Mountain Brook, Ala.
Competing in the Race of Champions, the 16-team field featured 10 of the top 20 individual runners in the nation. The Eagles, who are ranked No. 6 in the nation, scored 51 points to No. 4 Mountain Brook's 83 led by Amanda Winslow's fifth place finish with a time of 18 minutes, 1 second. Nicky Akande (18:47) was 11th, Vicky Winslow (18:50) was 13th, Allyson McGinty (19:54) was 32nd, Chloe Whitworth (19:56) was 33rd, Sydney Williams (20:06) was 41st and Briana Crawford (20:08) was 43rd. Girls cross country Hawks finish 10th at Furman GREENVILLE - The Mill Creek girls cross country team finished 10th out of 41 teams and 282 girls at the Furman Invitational on Saturday. The Hawks had a team average of 21 minutes, 53 seconds, led by Brittany Westmoreland, who was 18th with a time of 20:42. Alicia Connoly (21:15) was 28th, Megan Steinocher (21:53) was 56th, Marissa Hinds (22:39) was 101st, Heather Peterman (22:57) was 113th, Hanna Hill (23:06) was 127th and Megan Steele (23:06) was 128th. Boys cross country Eagles take fourth at Great American XC Festival HOOVER, Ala. - The Collins Hill boys cross country took fourth at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday. Carlos Galindo led the Eagles with a 20th place finish and time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds. Andy Gonzalez (16:51) was 25th, Alex Kellams (16:57) was 29th, Austin Hunt (17:23) was 52nd and Danny Cook (17:29) was 58th. Wesleyan finished in 15th place.More like this story
