Gwinnett Daily Post
LAWRENCEVILLE - A talent competition is looking for a few good acts.
Gwinnett's Most Talented is accepting 30 acts - acts can be individuals or groups of three - for its competition set for Oct. 21, and 20 of those spots had been filled as of Friday with vocalists and a magician.
"We would like to encourage dancers, gymnasts and comedians and other such acts to sign up this week if possible," said Jane Madigan, president of JEM Entertainment of Lawrenceville, which is coordinating the competition.
Acts will be judged on performance, stage presence and appearance, and one winner from each age group, ages 6 to 11, 12 to 16 and 17 and older, will be declared judges' choice. An additional winner will be chosen by the audience based on donations. These four winners will be named Gwinnett's Most Talented and will move on to compete at the state level next year. The acts will also perform at 5 p.m. at the 11 Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon at Discover Mills Mall in Lawrenceville.
Registration for the competition is $25 for the first performer and $10 for each additional performer in a group. If spots are still available the night of the competition, a $40 cash-only fee will be accepted for the first performer and $15 for each additional performer.
