DULUTH - Gwinnett Gladiators' head coach Jeff Pyle must resolve a sudden goaltender issue.

Craig Kowalski was at Gladiators' practice Wednesday after being released from American Hockey League Norfolk's training camp.

Kowalski's former Florida teammate, Kevin Nastiuk, arrived in Gwinnett on Wednesday night. Nastiuk is under contract with NHL Boston and was assigned here after Pyle discussed that option with the Bruins' brass this summer.

The Gladiators also signed rookie Charlie Effinger during the offseason.

So Pyle will have to trade either Effinger, who Tuesday subbed in during the Atlanta Thrashers' practice, or Kowalski.

"I'm going to look to move a guy today," Pyle said. "I'm just not sure. I love Charlie. I wasn't expecting K-wal back. I'm kind of scrambling."

Kowalski returns to the Gladiators after winning an ECHL-best 29 games for Gwinnett last season. The Michigan native posted a 2.33 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage and represented the Gladiators as the starting goalie at the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton, Calif.

He also appeared in four AHL games with Syracuse, posting a shutout and a 2-1-0 record.

The Gladiators practice again today and then play their lone exhibition game Friday in Augusta.

Gwinnett also added Jake Anderson to their training camp roster and released forward Carl Bresser on Wednesday.

Anderson joins the Gladiators after being released from training camp by the Chicago Wolves. Anderson is the son of Atlanta Thrashers head coach John Anderson. The Toronto native last played for the Brampton Capitals of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League during the 2005-06 season.

Bresser was a rookie Pyle signed in July out of Marian University.
