Collins Hill wins club water polo title

Collins Hill's first-year club water polo team defeated Wheeler 11-10 this past weekend to win the state championship.

The Eagles, already short three players because of their commitments to band, lost another player to a first-quarter ejection and another to a fourth-quarter foul-out. But they tied the match with 40 seconds left and scored the game-winner with only three seconds remaining.

North's Dimercurio, Parkview's Detweiler earn top honors

North Gwinnett's Nicole Dimercurio and Parkview's Brian Detweiler were named runners of the week by the Gwinnett County cross country coaches.

Dimercurio won the Westover Invitational with a course-record time of 18 minutes, 17 seconds. Detweiler placed fourth at the Jesse Owens Invitational in 16:00.

Panther girls win Alexander Asics Invite

Parkview's girls cross country team placed first out of 25 teams at this past weekend's Alexander Asics Invitational with five runners in the top 20.

Julianne Kurke was fifth overall in a Panther freshman-record time of 19:03 and teammate Sara Brown was ninth in 19:19. Lisa Saari (15th, 19:45), Rebecca Shane (16th, 19:45) and Shea Spicher (19th, 20:03) also ran well for the victors.

Panthers host Fields of Faith

Gwinnett's Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host Fields of Faith, an event open to everyone, on Wednesday at Parkview High School's stadium.

The event, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will have Rollin' Joe Phillips as one of the guest speakers and music from the Mick Miller Band.

Eagles' Box featured on 'Prep Rally'

"Gwinnett Prep Rally," a Gwinnett County high school sports TV program, airs football highlights from Grayson-Shiloh, Brookwood-Meadowcreek, Parkview-Central Gwinnett and South Gwinnett-Dacula on this week's show. GPR also reports from recent softball action.

Collins Hill's Michael Box is the featured athlete. Dacula's Hunter Watts, Central's Diante Drake and Grayson's Harrell Gunn are also featured.

"Gwinnett Prep Rally," hosted by Daily Post editor Todd Cline and sports editor Will Hammock, airs Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV and each Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 a.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV.
