LAWRENCEVILLE - A 23-year-old Lawrenceville resident died Saturday afternoon in a fatal traffic collision, the second in Gwinnett County in as many days.
Jean Solano-Luis was driving a green Nissan Altima about 3 p.m. Saturday on Lawrenceville Highway near Amberwood Drive. Gwinnett County police said Solano-Luis lost control of the car while negotiating a curve and entered oncoming traffic, where the vehicle was struck by a 2002 Toyota Tundra. Solano-Luis sustained serious injuries during the collision and died at the scene, according to a news release. The driver of the Toyota, 65-year-old Roland Demeulemeester of Lawrenceville, was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, the news release said. Investigators determined speed was a contributing factor for the crash. Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said no new information was available about Friday's incident, which left one person dead and another in critical condition. The head-on collision at Oakland Road near Oakland Ridge Drive killed a passenger of a vehicle struck by a sport-utility vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was in critical condition Friday at Gwinnett Medical Center. Their names have not been released.More like this story
